Katharina Rosenberger
Katharina Rosenberger, born in Zurich, is a professor of composition at the HEM Haute école de musique de Genève and co-director of the SONIC MATTER Festival for contemporary and experimental music in Zurich, Switzerland.
Katharina regards the act of music-making as intertwined with its environment, inherently social and anti-hierarchical. As a composer and educator, her inquiries manifest in a transdisciplinary context, challenging traditional views on how sound is produced, heard, and perceived.
Her compositions, installations, and interdisciplinary stage works have been presented at numerous festivals and concert series across Europe and the United States, Asia and in Australia.
Rosenberger is the recipient of the 2023 Swiss Music Award and the 2019 Guggenheim Fellowship. Her installations VIVA VOCE and Room V won the Mediaprojects Award / Sitemapping from the Swiss Federal Office of Culture in Bern.
Her music can be heard on Mode Records, Hat Hut Records, Unit Records, and Akenaton.
